Ed Le Brocq: I am a Centaur

Ed Le Brocq is a musician, teacher, writer and broadcaster for ABC Classic, an Australian classical radio station. Formerly known as Emma Ayres, he transitioned in 2016.
He cycled from England to Hong Kong with a violin strapped to his back and moved to a war zone to teach music to Afghan children.
Ed asked if I could paint him as a centaur, a magical being representing his transition. I included a tattoo on the horse’s back to complement Ed’s existing tattoos. It combines the dharma wheel and a lotus to symbolise spiritual change and rebirth.
