ROCKY BURN
ArtistaMALINCONICO SGUARDO DI CYBORG
This visual and organic ferment, vital and aggressive, challenges myths and modes of being free in the hyper-technological era of frantic, gratuitous, dysfunctional production and consumption.
Torn between escapism and spiritual ambition, the collective imagination finds possible identification in the hybrid aesthetics of metropolitan graffiti, comics, tribal tattoos, immersive and tactical electronic video games, virtual worlds, interactive practices, industrial automation, commercial and propagandistic packaging, global-scale events, sensationalized international scandals, the obsessive pervasiveness of media flows, post-Freudian psychopathological rituals, and the garments of the multimedia industry.
In the iconographic and semantic apparatuses of the new orientation codes on the planet. Electronics, genetics, biology, and mass media shape the visionary visual stream of consciousness of the artist, who recklessly lets emerge from creative practices infinite prototypes of a soon-to-be universal language, producing a disorienting evocative autonomy.
Meanings slip away, mutating forces allow themselves to be seized as we are compelled to dismantle and rebuild their structure and functions, their legitimacy, while form safeguards the linguistic virus from latent dissolution—like university students in a supermarket who neurotically fill and empty their carts, questioning what they need, deliriously mulling over it among themselves in the midst of imposing rows of possible worlds.
Visual impacts freeze, like jammed carts, the identities of cosmopolitan citizens, engaged protagonists and consumers, unconsciously involved, rising to become vibrant, unsettling emblems of the complex and chaotic system of relationships between massified individuals and a globalized environment.
