Merdules

The painting represents the union of several traditional Sardinian figures:
the Mamuthones, guardians of the oxen, and su Boe, the ox.
The term Merdules symbolically encompasses all the masks of Sardinia.
These are ancient figures, deeply rooted in collective memory, speaking of labor, identity, and belonging to the land. With su Mazuccu, the staff, the circle of the ritual is completed: the gesture, the strength, the protection.
